Radka Osickova brought her experience of traditional sewing, crochet and knitting with her to college where she earned a degree in fashion design. During her last semester, she took a jewelry class where she discovered the similarities between thread and fine sterling wire. It was there that she first applied her knowledge of traditional craft to her studies of textile design and Radka Design came to life.

After school she took a job in Manhattan as a technical designer for several years, but she never shook the possibilities of combining jewelry and textile technique. So, after Radka developed a loyal following of fellow designers and artists, secured a few wholesale accounts, and she left her day job to expand Radka Design. Today the forged pieces have blossomed into a dynamic collection. It features groups of distinct shapes and dimensions, but all the work contains the intriguing unions of crochet and metal, lightness and strength.

Radka makes each piece in her Brooklyn studio by hand, hook and hammer.

All pieces on the website are also available at the designers boutique, Trunk, located beneath her studio at 68 Jay Street in DUMBO.
